Barreista Travels to Breathless Riviera Cancun
We are back from a great week in Mexico, although returning to a slightly different climate, it is always nice to be home. In the spirit of keeping my warm vibes alive I’m excited to share a little more about our trip! You might have seen the Instagram highlight reel, but here's the back story on this trip. Cheers!
I started planning this trip last August. We were headed home from my first teaching trip in Jamaica and I’d had such an amazing experience getting to do something I love, in a beautiful location and having my husband along for the journey I just knew I wanted to do another trip like that and I wanted it to be in celebration of my birthday! I didn’t want to go in the traditional sense of celebration, balloons, candles and cake, I wanted to go as a celebration of where I am in life, what I’ve accomplished and maybe most importantly how excited I am for all the new adventures I’m having and are to come.
So yes, spoiler, today is my birthday! It’s the first time in a long time I can remember not feeling bad about turning a year older. In the past I’d often compare where I was at that particular age to where I thought I would or should be, but this year I’m feeling so grateful for exactly where I am and where I’m headed. Exciting!
This was my second teaching vacation and I’m already excited for the next after another incredible experience. We stayed at the Breathless Resort Riviera Cancun, an adult only all-inclusive resort about 20 minutes from the Cancun airport. The property was beautiful and the entertainment staff that helps with my setup was such a fun group, even singing Happy Birthday to me on our final morning. (Thank you to my #barreistahubby for arranging, I love you!)
Our typical day would start with coffee, duh, and then heading to teach classes. Then we would have breakfast and hit the pool. We had one day that was a total rain out and one that was a cooler and cloudier day, but it did not get us down. The resort had three distinctly different pool areas, all with their own vibe, making it easy to find the one that suited you at any particular moment. The champagne was good and we are ahead on this trip cost wise by my consumption alone. Speaking of consumption, the food...this is always a challenge for me since I’m particular about my nutrition but it seems my sweet tooth was nothing to mess with. I indulged unapologetic, for the most part, knowing that I’d be back to my routine as soon as we got home. I honestly didn’t even wait that long. I used our travel day as a bit of a detox day and I’m already feeling good and excited for my smoothie bowl today!
This post wouldn’t be complete without a huge shout-out to my loving husband for encouraging me, supporting me and loving me along this journey. I know what you are thinking, “What a sport he is to travel to tropical destinations with you(insert eye roll)!” You’re right, he’s one lucky guy! The thank you is for coming along and being my biggest fan, helping me set-up and organize, for being my sounding board and for letting me conscious stream my future dreams, goals and aspirations. Plus he has agreed to serve as future personal concierge for our first annual Barreista Be Well retreat! Thanks, babe!
To all of you who are reading this, whether you are related to me and feeling obligated to read this, you are a friend or someone I’ve yet to meet, thank you so much for your support.
So, where should we go next?
