It can be tough to get back to feeling like yourself after being on vacation. We tend to indulge when we are away and there is nothing wrong with that, but it can leave us feeling less than our best when we return home.
Here are my top tips for how to hit reset and rebound quickly when you return home from a trip.
We often become dehydrated when we travel, especially when we fly. Even an avid water drinker might struggle to get enough H2O when they are away from home, so be sure to drink plenty of water upon returning home. This will also help get your digestion back on track!
Unless you went on a salad retreat you might not have eaten enough leafy greens and vegetables while you were away. I like to add at least one salad a day back to my meal plan when I return home. Another great way to get extra greens is by adding spinach to your smoothies. It will add lots of nutrition without changing the taste.
I’m a big fan of moving my body every day. I even like to work out when I’m on vacation. Whether that is your thing or not, I highly recommend getting daily exercise as a way to get back into your routine. We all know physical activity is good for us but it can also help elevate your mood, which can be quite helpful if you’re feeling a the post vacation blues.
Sleeping in my own bed when I return from a trip is one of my favorite things about coming home. Getting a little extra sleep each night can help me adjust back to the day to day hustle. I also love making our bed with fresh sheets prior to leaving for a trip so I can climb into crisp clean bedding that first night home.
When possible I like to plan a lighter schedule when I return from a trip. This allows for time to get caught up on tasks like laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I also try to hold onto the relaxation I felt during my vacation for as long as possible and a lighter schedule helps allow for that.
