My Favorite Smoothie
It is finally here! I’ve Instagrammed it a million times, talk about it a ton and have enjoyed my favorite smoothie nearly every day and sometimes twice a day for over two years. It is my daily breakfast and my dinner on nights I teach a late barre class, go to an evening hot yoga class or get home late from a work trip. I really dislike the feeling of laying down with a full stomach even if it’s just an enormous bowl of veggies, also one of my favorite meals, so this is the perfect fit for me.
So without further adieu..
You will need..
8 ounces of unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
3/4 cup of frozen cauliflower
one serving of your favorite vanilla protein powder (I use and love this one)
1 tblsp of peanut butter powder (I use this one)
Optional Toppings..
unsweetened coconut shavings
Ezekiel cereal
Cocoa Nibs
You will also need a blender of some kind. I use this one and have previously used this one.
How to make..
This is the only “tricky” part. If you have a blender where you attach the lid and then turn the blender upside down, like this style, then you’ll want to add the ingredients in the order they are listed. If you have a traditional blender where you add ingredients, pop the lid on and blend, then you’ll want to add the ingredients in reverse order, from bottom to top. This helps ensure that all the ingredients blend well and your powder ingredients don’t blow to the top of the blender and feel wasted or not fully blended. Can you tell I’ve made this a time or two?
When it comes the the toppings it can be easy to get carried away, so just be sure to watch how much extra you are adding to the smoothie when you top it, but know that a little bit goes a long way in adding to the taste and texture.
I like to blend my smoothie to a rich and thick consistency and pour into a bowl rather than drink. This makes me feel like I’m having an actual meal, which I am!
