Spring Into Wellness

It was almost 50 degrees in Wisconsin yesterday and that is giving me hope that Spring will arrive and stick around here soon. A lot of our snow has melted over the last few days between the rain and warmer temps. Just being able to get outside with the dogs and not freeze my buns off is promising.

Also, our home is recovering from not one but two people having some awful cold or flu strain and I’ve spent the last two weeks avoiding everyone so I don’t get sick myself. So with that, what better time to talk about how I’m literally springing into wellness this season. I’m talking all around wellness, mentally, physically and emotionally!

Over the last several months I’ve taken on a lot of projects, one of which you are reading at this very moment, that take a lot of time, attention and energy. I’m very passionate about them so it rarely feels like work to me, but nevertheless it is all on top of my corporate 9-5 job. As I reflect on where I’ve been in the last year, and I’m talking more mentally than physically, I think it’s important to get back to basics a little this season.

Here are some of the ways I plan to do that.

Home Base

I have not been spending enough time or energy with my husband and family. A lot of my projects get the lions share of me and I need to work on finding balance there. This needs to be a priority.

Oiling Up

Staying well is paramount and my wellness toolkit has been a literal life saver with how busy I’ve been, the traveling, the germs running through our home, you get the point. As I enter a busy season of travel for that 9-5 I’ll be leaning heavily on this bag of tricks to help keep me well.

Walk it Out

I feel like I might actually be able to come out of hibernation. This Winter was brutal and the Florida girl in me protested it strongly. I didn’t want to bundle up and head outside, I wanted to bundle up and get under the covers. More walks are on my agenda. My mind, body and dogs will appreciate it!

Phone a Friend

We’ve all been there, new relationship, busy at work, family, life, you name it and it can start to trump the time you make for your friends. It can be difficult to balance it all. This is something I’ve struggled with. It is important to me that I make a conscious effort to get together with my girlfriends, give them a call or Face Time. We need to make time for the ones that mean the most to us.

So there you have it as we Spring ahead I hope to keep working on being the best version of myself; mentally, physically, emotionally and relationally.

How are you working on being your best YOU?
