Movement Challenge

I was in the hotel gym this morning and as I ellipted on the elliptical I was considering what was it that made me wake up at all times of the early morning to get my body moving, especially when I travel. There are so many factors for me. Yes, exercise is a very big part of my daily routine and all around wellness, but ultimately I landed on the fact that I just feel better when I move my body. Especially first thing in the morning and especially when I travel. Often times I know that if I don’t exercise first thing in the morning when I’m traveling I won’t either have the time or the energy to do it later in the day.

I was feeling so strongly about this that I hopped on Facebook Live when I got back to my hotel room to share my thoughts and throw out a challenge to all of you to get your bodies moving. So, what do you say? Want to feel energized and good about yourself at the start of your day? I challenge you to get your body moving for at least ten to fifteen minutes every morning for two weeks and see how you feel!

Let’s just be clear, this is not about weight loss or getting in the best shape of your life, this about feeling good. Mentally, physically, emotionally! Wellness my friend!

Are you in? Are you willing to put yourself first? This is not a commitment you are making with me but rather with yourself. I encourage you to work on that wellness. Here are a few suggestions on how to get started if this is a new habit for you.

walk your dog

take your coffee on a walk around the block,

walk your kids to school

WALK

go for a bike ride (unless you live in WI right now)

stretch it out - there are so many free stretch/yoga videos on YouTube

Regardless of what you choose, do something you like, you’ll be more likely to stick with it. Grab a friend or loved one to get on the healthy habit train with you. Think of how quickly 15 minutes will go by if you are walking with a friend or chatting on the phone. I love listening to audio books or some inspiring morning music. You might catch a sunrise you wouldn’t have otherwise and that seems like reason enough to me!

I’d love for you to check in with me, let me know you are participating in the challenge and how you feel two weeks from now. If you need or want an accountability partner I’d be happy to be that for you too!

Now if you haven’t taken that walk, ride or done your first down dog of the day, what are you waiting for?
