Acupuncture? Yes, please!
I was stepping outside my comfort zone last week when I laid down on the table to get acupuncture for the first time. I'm all about the natural healing powers, but I'm not all about needles. I have been experiencing some neck pain for a few weeks. I'm sure it's not from working out 7 days a week and teaching 7+ barre classes each week, for the last however many weeks. I mean it couldn't be, right? Or could it? Okay, I'm being a little facetious. I have a hard time taking "rest days". My body loves to be in motion and I love my #barrebesties, so who has time for "rest days". I know our bodies need them, but I'll admit they are tough for me.
So, in walks neck pain. Thankfully my "Aches" roller ball has been saving me daily! However, I knew I needed to take my self-care in this area to the next level. I want to be able to still be working out as much as I want and teaching as much as I want a year from now, 5 years from now and even longer, but I know I won't get there if I don't take care of my body.
I know what you are thinking, "Let's hear about that acupuncture already!".
Here's my take on it. DO IT!
I could just end the blog post right here, but I'll tell you why I am such a fan after just one experience. For starters, it was extremely relaxing. Don't we all want to go lay down in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday? All kidding aside, I felt a definite shift in my energy. I became still, especially in my mind, which can be a bit challenging for me. I had a series of sensations, I imagine everyone experiences it differently so I won't totally spoil it, but ultimately it was centering, relaxing and most importantly it made me feel better!
Will I go again? Yes!
Would I recommend you try it? Yes!
